Cannes 70th Anniversary and More
Jun 3, 2017

Hello, Diego fans! First of all, sorry for the lack of updates, my computer decided to have issues right during Cannes. But this is over now, and you can find in our gallery pictures of Diego during the festival, last week.

In a year in which Spanish-language films are absent from the Cannes Film Festival, Mexico has displaced a dream team of luxury to pose in the photo commemorating the 70th anniversary of what is probably the most glamorous festival on the planet. The actors Salma Hayek, Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal, plus the directors Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuaron, Alejandro González Iñárritu and the director of photography Emmanuel Lubezki, the gold names of the new wave of Mexican cinema (38 international awards total between All), took part of the historic image of the family of cinema in the garden of the Palais des Festivals.

The Mexican delegation was one of the most numerous in the image, seven of a total of 115 personalities, and the surprise appearance of some of them, such as Diego Luna, Gael García Bernal and Guillermo del Toro, whose presence had not been confirmed by the festival, embracing their companions and parading together on the red carpet has reached its apogee when they have stood united in front of the photographers and the cameras, before the special screening and gala dinner tribute. “In this festival, Mexican cinema or made by Mexicans has made a hole and we have all come because it is part of our lives,” said Diego Luna.

During the special dinner, took after the gala presentation, Salma Hayek brought her own Mariachi band, which made the Mexican party complete! Watch it below:
