Diego is featured on the most recent issue of GQ Mexico, that brings “The Men of the Year”. Interviewed by Alejandro Mancilla and photographed by Ashley Frangie he talks about Narcos: Mexico, privacy, activism, and Star Wars.

You can check the photoshoot and scans in our gallery, and the translated article behind the cut. Enjoy!

“I’m afraid you’ll get a gun and shoot me if you do not like my questions,” I warn him. After seeing Narcos: Mexico, it is hard not to think about the scene of the restaurant in which his character shoots a rival with bullets. Diego laughs and confesses: “Notice that I thought very well before accepting the role; it’s something different from what I had done before.” In the series, he plays Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo – the capo who reconfigured the drug business in Mexico – and manages to transmit that cold, calm and unpredictable coldness. “The challenge was to create a three-dimensional character that was not bad-bad and to show the darkness that led him to do what you and I would not do. He, like us, felt, suffered, fell in love, had family and friends.” The actor has always been driven with determination when choosing which role he will add to his private catalog of personifications. “Freedom was the most valuable teaching that my father has given me,” recalls Diego about his father-the set designer Alejandro Luna-to whom he dedicated his Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent GQ 2018 Awards.

‘Narcos: Mexico’ Renewed for Season 2
Dec 5, 2018

¡Celebremos! Netflix renewed Narcos: Mexico for a second season, TV Line is reporting!

The Narcos franchise first launched on Netflix back in August 2015. Its first two seasons focused exclusively on Pablo Escobar, while Season 3 turned its attention to the rise of the Cali Cartel in the wake of the cocaine kingpin’s death. Originally set to return for Season 4, the series instead came back as Narcos: Mexico, which Netflix billed as Season 1 of a standalone series.

The first season of Narcos: Mexico was released on Friday, Nov. 16, and took viewers back to the year 1980 to tell the origin story of the Guadalajara Cartel. The cast is led by Diego Luna (Rogue One), who plays cartel head Félix Gallardo, and Michael Peña (Ant-Man) as DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena.

‘Rogue One’ Spinoff Series secures The Americans writer as showrunner
Dec 1, 2018

Disney+ had enlisted a showrunner for its prequel series to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The Americans producer Stephen Schiff will oversee the series, accordingly to The Hollywood Reporter. The series stars Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, and will follow the Rebel spy during the early days of the Rebellion.

The project is scheduled to go into production next year.

Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply,” Luna previously said.

Schiff has two Emmy nominations for best drama series during his time on the six-season espionage thriller at FX and has been behind the box office hits Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and last year’s American Assassin.

Disney+ is being positioned as a Netflix rival and is eying a 2019 launch.
